VIVA! is thrilled to welcome Lucia Peiro Lloret<\/strong> and Almudena Millan<\/strong>, two members of the Art D\u2019<\/strong> collective from Velencia, Spain. While in Montr\u00e9al, our guests will meet local artists and work with VIVA! to establish a foundation for possible future collaborations. As a first introductory step, we are presenting a programme of performances at one of the newly inaugurated spaces in Ateliers Belleville. 

Conceived as an encounter, the event brings together members of Art D\u2019 <\/strong>and L\u2019Araign\u00e9e<\/strong>, a local performance art collective whose members have been featured in past VIVA! programs (2011, 2013, 2022). While giving space to individual practices, this program also highlights the relevance of collective structures, both here and abroad. These artist-driven initiatives nurture performance art communities and strengthen the sustainability of individual practices by facilitating encounters and exchanges between artists. 

We hope you join us to experience the work and meet  our guests: Luc\u00eda Peir\u00f3 Lloret, Almudena Mill\u00e1n, Helena Martin Franco, No\u00e9mi McComber and Ileana Hern\u00e1ndez Camacho.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2017 in Valencia Spain, Art D\u2019<\/strong> is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the production and research of action art. The cultural association is composed of a intergenerational collective of artist researchers. All three members are university professors and practicing artists, and they present their work at international events, as well as in publications. Art D\u2019 is dedicated to the study, documentation, and dissemination of contemporary action art. Its open and ambitious research approach takes various forms, including performances, publications, discussions, and performance workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in January 2011,\u00a0L\u2019Araign\u00e9e<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is a collaborative platform dedicated to showcasing the work of its members – and that of other guest artists – in new contexts, both locally and internationally. The collective is composed of artists, writers, and curators who share a feminist perspective and a desire to take initiatives to promote art that resonates with both their artistic sensibilities and their political stances. The collective builds bridges between communities, arts organizations, and artists, whose unique perspectives can fuel reflection and raise questions about what is expected of contemporary art.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interdisciplinary artist,\u00a0Luc\u00eda Peir\u00f3 Lloret<\/strong>\u00a0holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in fine arts and a master\u2019s degree in cultural heritage management from the University of Valencia, Spain. She has been a member of several action art collectives, including A.N.C.A., Tres i nores, the Sinberifora Association, and the Art D\u2019 Association. She approaches her artistic work as research and is interested in the relationship between sounds and objects. Her performances have been presented at numerous festivals, art spaces, and museums across Europe (Sweden, Finland, Germany, France, Spain, etc.), as well as in North America. She co-directed the\u00a0Art d’Acci\u00f3<\/em>\u00a0series at the Octubre Contemporary Cultural Center in Valencia (2007\u20132011) and the\u00a0Art D’<\/em>\u00a0series at the CCCC (Centre del Carme de Cultura Contempor\u00e0nea), and organizes occasional performance events at the Sporting Club Russafa. She is also a professor at the Valencia School of Dramatic Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A performance artist and painter,\u00a0Almudena Mill\u00e1n<\/strong>\u00a0holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in fine arts and a master\u2019s degree in artistic production from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. Her performances have been presented at numerous action art festivals and events in Spain, such as\u00a0Acci\u00f3n!Mad\u00a0<\/em>(Madrid),\u00a0Semana de la Performance\u00a0<\/em>(Madrid),\u00a0Out of Mind<\/em>(Zaragoza), the\u00a0Jornada d’Art d’Acci\u00f3<\/em>\u00a0(Valencia), and\u00a0Fils d’Acci\u00f3\u00a0<\/em>(Valencia). She has also participated in the\u00a0Month of Performance Art<\/em>\u00a0in Berlin, Germany. In addition to being involvement with\u00a0Art D\u2019, Almudena is also part of the WDC collective (along with Elia Torrecilla and Pepe Romero), a group\u00a0dedicated to developing discreet actions in public space. She is also a professor at the Castell\u00f3n School of Art and Design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No\u00e9mi McComber<\/strong>\u00a0earned a Master\u2019s degree in Visual and Media Arts from Chelsea College of Art in London, United Kingdom, in 2002. Since then, she has pursued various artistic projects as an artist, curator, and teacher, adopting a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach. She has exhibited her work in various contextes across North America, South America, and Europe. Working in video, photography, urban interventions, drawing, and performance, her artistic practice explores the physical and social constraints that shape everyday experience. By exposing the unspoken rules that govern any social space, she seeks to redefine the potential of spaces we occupy, both individually and collectively. She co-founded the collective L\u2019Araign\u00e9e in 2011 and lives and works in Montreal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helena Martin Franco<\/strong>\u00a0was born in Cartagena-Karmairi. She lives and works in Tio’tia: ke-Mooniyang-Montr\u00e9al since 1998. She holds an MA in visual and media arts from UQAM. She is a member of several feminist contemporary art collectives, including L\u2019Araign\u00e9e (collective of diffusion of contemporary art), La Redhada (network of women artists from the Colombian Caribbean), CAVCA (Community of Visual Artists of Cartagena and Bolivar) and\u00a0Las Meninas emput\u00e1s!\u00a0(Feminist collective, anti-colonial activist from Cartagena). Her transdisciplinary practice explores the blending of different artistic processes and the hybridization between traditional and new technologies. Her artistic practice invites dialogue about gender-based violence, immigration and artistic censorship.\u00a0\u00a0cars, wrecks\u2026 the vehicles will serve as a canvas to convey multiple perspectives.\u00a0By bringing artistic experimentation directly into shared urban spaces, FAAS 8 reimagines everyday infrastructure as a place of connection, curiosity and collective imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

leana Hern\u00e1ndez Camacho<\/strong>\u2019s multidisciplinary practice focuses on relational performance, and her research explores human camouflage. She uses mimicry to engage in dialogue with various elements of her environment\u2014both inanimate and living. Through clothing and everyday objects, she transforms her natural body into a poetic one. Her actions center on sensory awareness and collaboration. She is originally from Mexico, where she recently completed a master\u2019s degree in artistic production at UAEM in Cuernavaca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
